AI Wearable Assistant: Can It Improve the Quality of Your Life?

The AI wearable market is getting crowded, but Fieldy’s newly released Fieldy 3 caught our attention with its sleek design and ambitious promise: automatically capturing, transcribing, and summarising conversations. We tested it to see if it truly makes everyday life easier.

With the busy, demanding lives that many of us lead today, keeping track of every conversation, meeting, and appointment has become nearly impossible. This means we often find ourselves missing important details, forgetting follow-ups, and spending our evenings trying to reconstruct the day from memory.

While note-taking apps and voice recorders can offer partial solutions, wearable AI devices like Fieldy offer a fundamentally different approach that captures and organises your conversations automatically.

We explain what the Fieldy device is, how it works, and whether it actually delivers – to help you decide whether you should purchase this piece of technology.

According to the manufacturer, Fieldy was designed to solve the growing problem of information overload. It’s compact, wearable device that transcribes conversations and generates actionable summaries – all without requiring you to lift a finger.

What we noticed is that, unlike voice memo apps or phone-based transcription tools that require you to manually start and stop recording, Fieldy works passively. You simply wear it and go about your day.

The concept behind Fieldy is straightforward: modern life demands more sustained attention than any single person can realistically give. Rather than asking you to get better at capturing information, Fieldy removes that burden entirely.

How Does Fieldy Work?

Fieldy uses AI to process spoken conversations in real time.

The device captures audio, converts it to text, and then applies AI summarisation to extract key points, decisions, and action items from each conversation.

Think of it as a personal assistant that sits in on every conversation, takes perfect notes, and organises them for you – except it fits on your wrist.

The companion app is where you review everything: transcripts, summaries, to-dos, and reminders, all searchable with an AI chat feature that lets you ask questions about any past conversation.

Who Should Use Fieldy?

After testing Fieldy, we think it makes the most sense for people who constantly move from one conversation to another and struggle to keep track of every important detail.

In our experience, it could be especially useful for professionals managing multiple clients, projects, or back-to-back meetings who want reliable follow-through without spending hours writing notes afterward.

We also found it easy to imagine busy parents benefiting from it while balancing work, school meetings, doctor appointments, and the endless day-to-day conversations that come with managing a household.

Students who want to stay focused during lectures instead of typing nonstop may also find it helpful, along with anyone attending important medical appointments where relying on memory alone doesn’t always feel enough.

How to Use the Device

There are a few easy steps you need to take to use Fieldy:

  1. Put the device on. Fieldy can be worn on your wrist like a watch or around your neck as a pendant – whichever suits your day.
  2. Go about your life. Fieldy transcribes conversations automatically. There are no buttons to press and no apps to open in the moment.
  3. Open the companion app and review your AI-generated summaries, action items, and to-dos – all pulled directly from your real conversations.
  4. Use the AI chat to search any past conversation. Ask it anything: "What did the doctor recommend?" or "When is the project deadline?"

What is the best time to use Fieldy?

Fieldy can be worn at any point during the day – at work, during appointments, or at home.

However, it's most impactful when worn during your busiest periods: the mornings filled with back-to-back meetings, the afternoons packed with calls, or anytime you're in a conversation where important details are being shared.

For those who find themselves forgetting things from personal appointments – doctor visits, school meetings, conversations with contractors – wearing Fieldy during these moments ensures nothing slips through the cracks.

What Features Does Fieldy Have?

Fieldy has a range of features designed to make conversation capture effortless and genuinely useful. Here are 4 standout elements of the device:

🎙️ Automatic transcription

What's great about Fieldy is that it removes the biggest friction point of every other recording tool: remembering to use it.

The device transcribes every conversation automatically without any manual input. No pressing record, no opening an app, no pulling out your phone. You simply wear it and talk.

✨ AI-powered summaries

Raw transcripts can be long and difficult to scan. Fieldy's AI processes each conversation and distills it into a concise summary of what was discussed, what was decided, and what needs to happen next.

This means you're not scrolling through pages of text to find the one detail you need – it's already pulled out and organised for you.

✅ Smart to-dos and reminders

When someone says "let's follow up on Thursday" or "can you send that by end of week," Fieldy catches it.

The device automatically generates to-dos and reminders from the commitments made in your conversations, bridging the gap between what was said and what actually gets done.

🔍 AI chat and conversation search

Perhaps Fieldy's most powerful feature is its AI chat, which lets you search across all of your past conversations using natural language.

Instead of trying to remember which meeting a specific detail came from, you simply ask – "What did the contractor say about the timeline?" – and Fieldy pulls the answer instantly.

5 Potential Benefits of Fieldy

Fieldy's features offer several advantages for managing the demands of a busy life. To decide whether the device is right for you, read on for the top 5 benefits:

💬 #1 More presence in conversations

When you're not splitting your attention between listening and note-taking, the quality of your conversations improves significantly.

You ask better questions, catch more nuance, and the people you're speaking with can feel that you're genuinely engaged.

🌙 #2 Evenings reclaimed

One of the most common pain points Fieldy addresses is the nightly ritual of reconstructing the day – writing follow-up emails, updating to-do lists, trying to remember who said what.

With summaries and action items already organised, that time becomes yours again.

📈 #3 Greater professional capacity

When information capture is handled automatically, you're able to manage more without working more.

Follow-ups are faster, nothing gets lost between meetings, and the mental overhead of tracking everything drops significantly.

🧘 #4 Reduced anxiety around forgetting

Many users describe a background stress they didn't fully recognise until it was gone – the persistent worry that they've missed or forgotten something important.

Fieldy replaces that uncertainty with a searchable, reliable transcript of every conversation.

🏠 #5 Better follow-through on personal details

Doctor's recommendations, school meeting action items, conversations with financial advisors – these are moments where the details matter and where memory alone often isn't enough.

Fieldy ensures the important things from your personal life get the same level of follow-through as your professional life.

3 Downsides of Fieldy

Like any product, Fieldy isn't perfect. It's important to get a balanced view of the device to help you decide whether this is the right one for you. Here are some of the downsides to consider before making a purchase:

📱 #1 Learning curve with the app

The companion app is packed with features – AI chat, conversation search, to-do management, summaries – and it can take a few days to get the hang of everything.

However, the core experience (transcribing and reading summaries) is intuitive from day one. The more advanced features reveal their value as you build up a library of conversations.

🌍 #2 Limited market availability

Depending on your location, Fieldy may not yet be available for immediate shipping. As a newer brand, distribution is still expanding, and delivery times may vary in some regions.

This is worth checking before you order, especially if you need the device by a specific date.

🛡️ #3 Privacy norms are still catching up

Even with Fieldy's built-in privacy indicator light, wearable AI devices are still a relatively new concept. Some people in your life may initially feel uneasy around a device that captures conversations.

Most users report that this fades quickly once they explain what the device does and how the privacy light works – but there is an adjustment period as the technology becomes more mainstream.

FAQs

Is Fieldy comfortable to wear all day?

Yes. Fieldy 3 features a compact, rounded design that can be worn on the wrist or as a pendant. Most users report forgetting it's there within the first few days.

Does Fieldy work without an internet connection?

The device transcribes on-device. However, the companion app requires connectivity to sync summaries, to-dos, and enable the AI chat search feature.

Is Fieldy legal to use in conversations?

Recording laws vary by location. In many places, only one party needs to consent to a recording. We recommend checking your local laws and using the privacy indicator light to maintain transparency.

How long does the battery actually last?

Up to 7 days on a single charge – the longest battery life of any wearable AI device currently on the market.

Honest take after 6 weeks: it's not perfect. The summaries occassionally miss an action item when people talk over each other, and one time the transcript split a long client call into two recordings for no reason I could figure out. But for the price with no subscription? Hard to complain too loud. Still way better than scribbling notes during interviews.

I picked one up after reading this. Setup was easier than I expected and transcripts arrive almost instantly. Only nitpick is the app design changes pretty often so it takes a bit to get used to where everything is again after each update – but besides that, everything works pretty good.

Battery life claim is real. I charged mine on a Sunday and made it through till Friday afternoon with normal daily use. For me thats the dealbreaker compared to the smaller competitors that need topping up every night.

The speaker profiles thing is one of those features I love and hate. Fieldy tries to guess who said what and slap a label on each speaker – works fine maybe 80% of the time. The other 20% it mixes up two people in a meeting which can be confusing when you go back to review. Hopefully they tighten this up in a future update.

Been using fieldy for about 3 months now. Most of the time it works really well, but theres definately some glitches here and there. Customer support is on point though – they actually reply within a day and the team keeps pushing updates so things keep getting better.
